selling 604s and cabinets
I have 2 Altec 604 duplex speakers in individual cabinets. The speakers and crossovers are in perfect condition to the best of my knowledge. I got them by auction from a local school that used them in their deaf education curriculum. Thus, they have never been abused and are relatively lightly used. The cabinets are in perfect structural condition, although there are some scratches and scruffs.
The first cabinet is a Model 605 Floor Cabinet from 1946 (as pictured in the catalog reproduced at the lansingheritage.org site. It contains the original low serial number 604 speaker, manufactured in Hollywood, CA. The second cabinet and speaker are a bit newer, probably dating from the late 1940's also. The cabinet is different but still a Model 605, and still furniture quality (It's the one pictured on the cover of the 1947 catalog) . It is a bit larger than the earlier 605 cabinet, and is squarer. It's made of mahogany, and has a very nice ornamental brass "grill" in front of the cloth grill.
Anyway, the speakers are a bit overpowering for the room they are in, and I'm interested in selling them. I would like to avoid ebay, and would rather sell them to someone who is willing to deal with the hassle of shipping these large and heavy objects.
Is there a good place to advertise these speakers for sale?
Thanks in advance,
Terry

(Per this site) look at the 'sticky' postings as you login to the main user's board page and you will see Todd's post regarding the classifieds section.
Do post location or some semblance thereof. Much time is wasted by suitors if not.
